In Chinese Medicine theory, there are five natural elements that exist within us, as they do in nature. Each season belongs to a particular element and has unique correspondences. When we study nature’s patterns and cycles, we can learn how to support our own health and stay well year-round.
The Fire element belongs to the season of Early Summer. We make our way from the dynamic yang energy of Spring and start to look forwards to the most Yang time of the year Early Summer.
The Fire element has Four meridian lines that belong to it, two organs, one energy system and a Fascial encasing. Summer also has two seasons, a defined early and late Summer. Clearly Fire element is clearly the favourite. The Heart, Small Intestine, San Jiao and Pericardium meridian systems belong to the Fire element, and they play a very important role in our overall health and wellbeing. The focus of Early Summer turns to strengthening these organs, gathering inspiration, and to practice that which we observe in nature, expanding, connecting and finding joy.
Within the Yin, Fire organ; the heart, resides our Shen. This spirit or consciousness, is best translated as ‘heart-mind’ it is related to consciousness, cognition, insight, logic and awareness.
